Moonlit painting of Whitby's harbour, with gas-lit shopfronts and the masts of ships

Ground Truth

Fictional crimes in real places. The people are invented, but the streets, the sky and the records are real, so the answer is out there if you know where to check.

How it works

Pick a mode

Casual is a complete case file for solving with your own head, no AI. Real Life is the full disclosure bundle. AI is allowed, and you'll need more than AI.

Work the evidence

Open phones, read statements, scroll doorbell logs, measure distances on the map. In Real Life mode you request extra records by quoting the right reference.

Check it against the world

Some answers only exist outside the file: when the clocks changed, where the moon was, which time zone a town keeps. Look them up.

Accuse

Answer every question. Only a fully correct accusation unseals the solution, and you won't be told which part you got wrong.

House rules

It's fiction

Every person, business, phone number and event is invented. Never contact real residents, businesses or police about a case.

Nothing to install

Everything runs in your browser. Your notes and requests stay on your device.

No hints in the comments

What's in the file is everything. Share theories with spoiler tags.
